Clint Dempsey says he will be happy to lead the line for injury-hit Fulham against CSKA Sofia tonight.

The Whites will definitely be without the injured striking duo of Andy Johnson and Diomansy Kamara, while Erik Nevland is suspended. Bobby Zamora is a doubt with a groin injury so American midfielder Dempsey will be pressed into service as an emergency striker, just as he was in Fulham’s last two league games.

I’m feeling confident about playing up front. Whatever position I’m asked to play, I’m happy to do it for the team.

I had two goals in a 3-0 win against Blackburn last week in that role, so it’s a position I can score goals in. I’m more comfortable playing left midfield but we have a lot of depth there with Zoltan Gera, Damien Duff, Simon Davies and Bjorn Helge Riise.

It’s a role I can play and I feel I can do it well, so that’s what I’ll try and do. I feel like I’m in good form.

It’s all about working on your positioning and knowing when to hold the ball up and bring people into play. I’ve played well this year and the goals are starting to flow. I feel like I’m someone who does get chances every game.
