Here’s a question to which I don’t know the answer. Who will start up front for Fulham on Thursday in our must win Europa League clash with CSKA Sofia?
Andy Johnson is definitely out after undergoing an operation on his groin. Diomansy Kamara won’t be available either as he has recently been under the knife as well. After that inept refereeing display in Rome, you won’t need reminding that Erik Nevland is suspended. Bobby Zamora missed yesterday’s draw with Bolton with a knee problem and is doubtful for Thursday.
David Elm is cup-tied and Seol Ki-Hyeon doesn’t appear to have been registered for the group stages of the Europa League (neither does Eddie Johnson). Clint Dempsey might have to plough a lone farrow up front if the injury crisis doesn’t ease – unless Roy Hodgson wants to throw any of Michael Uwezu, Marcello Trotta or Danny Hoesen in at the deep end.
Any ideas would be more than welcome in the comments box.
Being English and actually an product of the Academy instead of recent import. Uwezu is the only option and will likely make the bench on thursday.
Bobby needs to start with either Gera or Clint in support.
I would play Clint up front with Damien Duff who could play off Clint and is not afraid to shoot. With Simon D at right midfield supplying runs, movement and crosses.
Interesting idea Andy. That might well be the way Roy decides to start.
