Roy Hodgson has spoken of his affection for Blackburn Rovers as he prepares his Fulham side for their meeting at Craven Cottage tonight.

I’ve got a lot of time for Blackburn. I had a good couple of years there and I’ve got a lot of respect for the club and the people at the club.

They’ve done fantastically well. I think like ourselves they are a team that has to work hard every year to make certain that Premier League status is secured, and they’ve done fantastically well like we have ourselves.

It’s very important that we play well and get a result because however much esteem you may hold an opponent or an opposing team, when you’re playing against that team there’s only one thing going through your mind, and that’s that you want to win the game.

They’ve now leapfrogged us in the table so we’re going to be attempting to leapfrog back but we know what qualities they have and what they’re capable of doing. It’s about how well the two teams play on the night.

I believe that we’re capable of giving every team we play a good game and when we hit our best form we’re a handful for any team, whether they’re teams in the same neck of the woods as ourselves or against a team like Liverpool.
