When Fulham signed Damien Duff, there was almost universal recognition that we’d got an enormously talented football who could make a real difference if we could keep him fit. Predictably, injuries have disrupted his brief career at the Cottage so far and, unlike some, I thought he had a good game at Wigan, whilst clearly not 100% fit.

Duff is an obviously an integral part of Giovanni Trapattoni’s plans for Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against the French this week. He’s had treatment on his Achilles and is training ahead of the game. The buoyant nature of the report suggests that injury might be a thing of past, which would be great news. On a vaguely related note, the Sunday Independent has this revealing look at the slightly mysterious (well, to me at least) Trapattoni.
