Roy Hodgson will be without both Andy Johnson and Danny Murphy for Sunday’s trip to Wigan Athletic.

Johnson is still troubled by a combination of groin and shoulder problems whilst Murphy’s knee injury still hasn’t fully healed. Both have a better chance of being available for selection after the international break.

Dickson Etuhu started in Rome last night and should keep his place in central midfield provided he doesn’t suffer any reaction to his previous knee problem. Simon Davies was on the bench for the Europa League tie as he continues to feel his way back to full match sharpness.

Who partners Bobby Zamora, who should come back into the side having only been a substitute in the Stadio Olimkpico, remains to be seen. Diomansy Kamara was forced off at half-time with his knee complaint continuing to be a problem and Erik Nevland, harshly sent off minutes into the second period, could be line for a starting place.

Damien Duff, missing since his half-time departure against Liverpool last Saturday, is set to have a late fitness test on his Achilles injury.
