It was a terrific game at Eastlands today.

Rather than sticking ten men behind the ball, Fulham had chances to open the scoring, none better than the one that Bobby Zamora fluffed (although Diomansy Kamara’s almost apologetic steering the ball back to Shay Given with his first touch when clean through was a close second).

I’ve heard some people suggest that there may have been a hint of offside about Manchester City’s two goals – Roy has apparently told a post-match interviewer that he felt Lescott was offside and maybe de Jong was in Schwarzer’s eyeline for the second – but we were pretty lucky to get away with the Richards header that was disallowed in my book.

I’ll be honest and say that at 2-0 I thought it was all over. But the boys showed commendable character to reply very quickly. Damien Duff looks to be a real quality acquisition and took his goal brilliantly. Clint has always been good in the air and I was delighted to see him break his goal duck for this season. It was a great header and set up a thrilling, end-to-end final 20 minutes in which both sides could have won it.

Watch the goals for yourself here.
