Mark Schwarzer thinks last night’s win over FC Basel that took Fulham to the top of Group E in the Europa League can kick-start their league campaign.

The Whites had the Australian goalkeeper to thank for all three points as he pulled off a fine save from Scott Chipperfield in added time and Schwarzer believes that Fulham can draw on the character they showed against the Swiss side to gain crucial league points, starting at West Ham on Sunday.

It’s a great tournament to be in, and the campaign with Middlesbrough was fantastic. Everyone would like to be in the Champions League, but the Europa League is the next biggest thing, and for Fulham, it is a real occasion.

We have a vital game against West Ham in the league on Sunday, and hopefully we can use the confidence we have gained from the last two games to move forward. This can be a platform for us.
