As many people have the great pleasure in telling me, Fulham do not score that many goals. Often despite making alot of chances we just cannot get the ball in the back of the net! Perhaps when Bobby Zamora nearly put the ball out of the stadium when he had a whole open net to aim for, that theory was justified.
But, as I look at the results in the last three games, I see that we have scored six goals and that isn’t a bad run! But to be honest as long as we keep making chances the goals will come.
Besides, the only way we can get a result at City of Manchester Stadium is if they score first! Bring on Liverpool at the weekend.
Funnily enough, I was having this very conversation yesterday. We do seem to scoring a lot more goals lately.
The best part about it is the goals are being shared around the team. Both the forwards – Zamora and Kamara – scored against Hull, a defender (Hangeland) against Roma and two midfielders (Duff and Dempsey) yesterday. Perhaps we’re being a little more adventurous in our play. We certainly seem to be taking more shots from outside the area than before at the moment.
Long may it continue!
It’s a good job as well. I think they’ve conceded more from set pieces already this season than they did in the whole of last season.
Maybe that’s right Andy, but Fulham have still got a very good defensive record, particularly considering the sides we’ve already played. Scoring more goals has really helped us pick up a few points of late. I thought we were fairly clinical against Hull and those two goals we scored yesterday were excellently worked.
