Sky Sports are expecting Manchester City to field their strongest possible side tonight in their League Cup match against Fulham. Bellamy is likely to start along side Petrov up front while Adebayor is suspended. Robinho is also unavailable.
Fulham are apparently set to play the same kind of squad as in Sofia last week. This wouldn’t surprise too much because of European commitments and the fact that we play Arsenal on Saturday.
All I really want from the match tonight is a good solid performance from the lads that play!
Any thoughts?
I’m still uncertain as to the quality of the 2nd string, and what exactly they can offer when thrown into the first team when inevitably we are hampered by injuries. The League Cup has the be the least of our priorities, and that combined with a tie that does not favour us at all makes it seem logical that the 2nd string should play. No point playing our core players in a game that we are unlikely to get anything out of, in a competition that we don’t care about and will only add even more games to our already lengthy season.
Like you, I’m not expecting a result. I just hope that we are no pushovers against a City team desperate to win any silverware they can this season. If we lose, I won’t be too upset. As long as the players give me reason to suggest that I won’t panic when I see their name on the teamsheet for a more important game.
Is that why you have only sold 36 tickets? Embarrassing
I think we need to take these opportunities to use the “shadow” squad. We’re going to need a bigger pool of players to get through this season and based on Sunday’s performance they might actually do better than the “1st team”.
City are clearly taking the league cup seriously this season and will expect to progress, but you never know – it is at Easylands!
good luck fulham in all your targets this season, unless of course you’re playing my beloved city !
i like watching fulham you’ve got a really good manager and you play the game in the right spirit, good luck in the future.
does anyone know of an online stream?
