An Eidur Gudjohnsen equaliser dealt a serious blow to Norway’s hopes of reaching the play-offs for the World Cup finals as Iceland drew 1-1 with the Norwegians in Group Six tonight.
Gudjohnsen equalised for the home side after John Arne Riise had put Norway on course for a vital win. Egil Olsen’s side are now three points behind second-placed Scotland, who beat Macedonia 2-0 at Hampden Park this afternoon, and level on points with the Macedonians. Norway skipper Brede Hangeland played the full ninety minutes tonight and Bjorn Helge Riise, who joined Fulham this summer from Lillestrom, came on as a late second half substitute.
