The Irish Independent has the latest news on Damien Duff’s injury – and it isn’t all that encouraging.
They reckon the calf injury he picked up in Fulham’s defeat to Arsenal at the weekend might make him a major doubt for the Republic of Ireland’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Italy on October 11. If that’s the case, he will be certain to miss our Europa League game against Basel on Thursday and the subsequent trip to West Ham as well as potentially a game or two after the international break.
Roy Hodgson says the club are awaiting a scan to give them a fuller idea of the extent of the problem.
He felt something go in his calf. We won’t know how serious it is until we get the results of a scan. There was no one near him when he went down, it’s just one of those freak situations.
