Kagiso Dikgacoi continued his quest to build up to full match fitness as he played the full ninety minutes for South Africa as they lost a friendly tonight 2-0 to Germany in Leverkusen. The defensive midfielder, who has yet to make his first appearance for Fulham since signing from Golden Arrows before the close of the summer, completed the whole game for the Bafana Bafana and had a tough assignment in trying to contain an energetic and creative German midfield.

Joachim Loew’s side eased to a comfortable win with goals from Mario Gomez and Mesut Oezil as the Germans saw off a spirited South African side, who were much changed from the team that lost the Confederations Cup third place play-off match to Spain earlier this summer. The home side went in front with nine minutes to go to the break when Oezil sent through Michael Ballack, whose cross was perfect for Gomez to tap in from close range.

Oezil, who chose to represent Germany ahead of Turkey, where his grandparents hail from, scored his first international goal in third appearance for the senior side thirteen minutes from time.
