Brede Hangeland is still right behind Bobby Zamora and reckons the Fulham striker can make his old side West Ham suffer on Sunday.

Zamora has come in for some severe criticism from some sections of the Fulham support for his lack of potency in front of goal, but his energetic performance was a plus point in Fulham’s unfortunate defeat by Arsenal last weekend. Hangeland hailed his team-mate as one of the best hold-up players in the league and thinks a goalscoring run might be just around the corner.

When he’s on top of his game, like he was against Arsenal, he’s one of the the best hold-up players in the league. I thought he played really well and you can see that when he plays well, normally the team plays well.

If we can get him to play like that every week, we’ll be a very good team. All credit to him. As for his goals, I think all we can say to him is just to keep going really.

He does so much work for us holding the ball up and never stops running and chasing the ball. I think he’s a good finisher, he just needs a bit of luck in front of goal and he didn’t have that on Saturday.

Any place would be the right place to have a change of luck and next week against his old team West Ham would be perfect. But, hopefully, he just puts in another performance like then last one – he will deserve a goal in which case.
