Roy Hodgson is still furious at the shocking challenge that put Andy Johnson in hospital – and has revealed that the Fulham striker will be scarred for life after breaking his collarbone.

Johnson was cynically bodychecked in the first leg of Fulham’s Europa League qualifier against Russian side Amkar Perm and his injury came as a devastating blow given how well he and fellow striker Bobby Zamora had combined in the early stages of the season. Hodgson was boosted by Johnson’s early return – the former Everton striker was expected to miss two months of football – but remains angry at the damage done to his forward.

It’s caused Andy an injury which he will now have to learn to live with. His recovery is not optimal. He will have to learn to live with a deformity on his shoulder.

Hopefully, it won’t lead to a problem of Hameur Bouazza proportions.
