Reports from Australia suggest that Adrian Leijer could be on his way back to Melbourne Victory.

The Australian centre half was signed as a promising talent by Lawrie Sanchez but has had to make a first-team appearance in two years at Fulham. Indeed, the only action he’s seen since he has been in England was on loan at Norwich and those couple of appearances coincided with the Canaries’ relegation from the Championship last season.

Fulham and Melbourne, the club where Leijer shot to prominence in the A-League initially, were reportedly into talks last night regarding a possible transfer. Leijer, who represented his country at the Olympics last summer, looks to have a bleak future at Craven Cottage as he hasn’t even been assigned a squad number for the 2009/10 season.
