The talk about an imminent exit from Fulham for Diomansy Kamara refuses to die down.
It seems as if we are actively hawking the Senegalese striker around, which would confirm my suspicions that Roy Hodgson doesn’t really see a long-term future for Dio at Craven Cottage. It might also explain why Joe hasn’t seen much pre-season action.
Today’s Times reported that Fulham had offered Kamara to PSG, but that the man himself would rather move to Bordeaux, who could be in the market for a new striker should Marouane Chamakh, currently hankering over a transfer to Arsenal, move on.
Kamara has already reportedly turned down the chance of a reunion with Tony Mowbray, who was his boss at West Brom, at Celtic.
Not sure if anybody else has put this up, but I am Facebook friends with Kamara, and his status last week (27th) read:
“bordeaux ma fais une offre…j ai deja refuser celtic il y a un mois!je dois rentrer jouer en france ou pas…?reponse avant mercredi soir..”
So, he turned down Celtic a month ago, and is considering a move back to France, with Bordeaux interested.
Later, he posted: “merci pour tous vos messages! Maintenant j ai les idées plus claires!! Merci beaucoup a tout le monde.”
So I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see. Personally, I would love to see him stay – think we started to see the best of him towards the end of the season, and with a good pre-season behind him I would have backed him to play an important role in the side this year.
Good Facebook work Nick. It does seem like the club are trying to move him on.
I’d agree with you I’d love him to stay and fight for a spot. He looked very impressive when we were hit with some injuries and loss of form up front and that was after he’d missed much of the season himself. He brings us something different – and very unpredictable too – and I felt we might be able to harness that effectively.
Perhaps we could all send him some Facebook messages begging him to stay?
