It seems like nothing much has changed with Brede Hangeland. The press have tried hyping up the Arsenal transfer, Arsene Wenger’s line that he’s ‘looked at Hangeland’ got a few people worried and the redtops assure us he’s top of the Frenchman’s wishlist, but the situation remains the same as it ever was.
Brede was interviewed by a rather excited journalist today on Sky Sports News and once again came across as smarter than your average footballer, although that’s not as big a compliment as it might seem.
First, there was an explanation of why he’s not been talking too much during the close season. It was a hell of a lot better than John Terry’s.
There’s been a lot of speculation over the summer and my policy is to comment as little as possible, because the more you say the more speculation there is.
So you really have to talk to my agent about that. I’m keen on playing football and doing my job on the pitch.
That’s something I’ll think about if that comes about. Right now I’m concentrating on doing a good job for Fulham, and for Norway obviously when we play on Wednesday.
He also proved himself more than a match for the journalist’s probing questions, which weren’t all that inventive.
You can try and rephrase it as many times as you want, but I’ll [only] comment on that if it happens.
Hangeland, of course, reaffirmed his commitment to Fulham.
I’ve said all the time, I’ve had a great time in the 18 months I’ve been there. It’s a great club, so I’m in no rush to go anywhere.
