I know it’s dangerous to take professional footballers at their word, especially during a transfer window, but since Brede Hangeland doesn’t strike me as a money grabbing chap and is also quite articulate I’m willing to remain optimistic in this case. This interview gives little indication that he’s packed his bags and is off to Arsenal this weekend.

At the moment it is just something written in the newspapers and I’m not too worried about that. There is nothing to suggest otherwise for me, so I’m preparing for the game with Portsmouth on Saturday.

That [the prospect of a transfer] is something I will answer if that happens, so we will see. At the moment I play for Fulham and I am very happy about that.
