An interesting twist to the ongoing Jonathan Greening saga. Fulham have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to loan the West Brom captain until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.
It’s the last bit that’s interesting. Greening rejected a new contract when he handed in a transfer request earlier in the summer and has only one year remaining on his current deal. Whilst the club statement suggests Fulham will pay a fee for the loan, Greening will be free to talk to other clubs and join them on a Bosman by the end of his loan spell.
I’d say this would be an excellent bit of business by Fulham.
Excellant! If he doesn’t work for us (although I think he will) we can let him go and it hasn’t cost us very much.
Of the three WB players worth any might, Greening was #3 behind Koren and Brunt. But good pickup nonetheless.
And with his and Duff’s arrival, does that boost our midfield’s average age to an even 30?
I like the loan deal. If he works out, we sign him. If not, he heads back to West Brom.
ok I understand that our midfield is slightly old but they are all quality players. It just means that we will need to find some younger players in the next 2 years to takeover when the current ones are gone.
I hate watching sports sometimes, mainly cause in most sports, 30 is considered “old”. I’m 34 and refuse to think of myself as being old.
sorry Jason! I don’t mean it that way though. What I mean is that normally people are at their peak in their twentys! sorry 🙂
haha, I’m just talking in general, nothing directed at you. I must have heard “30” and “old” like 9 times this week.
