For those of you who weren’t around when HammyEnd.com was founded, the starting point for this website were a few tentative articles I wrote for Nick on the FFC Sweden website. We then had the idea of developing a new, bilingual site for fans of Fulham both at home and abroad. It grew much quicker than we expected and we had difficulty keeping up with demand, especially in terms of finding Swedish-language writers with the few time to deliver the updates.
The site has gone through many changes and upgrades since 2003, but I’m pleased to say that FFC Sweden has gone from strength to strength. They organise an annual trip to a Fulham home game each year when they come over in force and many individual members visit the Cottage and various away grounds on their own visits several times a season. The news that FFC Sweden has been designated as one of the first International Members’ Clubs is richly deserved and fitting recognition of the work that Nick and his colleagues at FFC Sweden have put in over the past few years. The Swedish Fulham fans are wonderfully knowledgable about our club, follow us loyally and are ever so friendly and welcoming.
It would be remiss for me not to mention Fulham USA as the other International Members’ Club to be inagurated today. I know that Mike and Tom put a lot of time and hard work to set up what is a terrific fans’ group as well as an online community. We have an ever-increasing supporter base in the United States and the Fulham USA website is as good a place as any for people to get up to speed with Fulham and discuss the latest developments with like-minded fans.
The guys at FulhamUSA are great. Mike even got me my first tickets to a Fulham match.
What a lovely story Tim. Which match was that?
Fulham v Everton, in 2006, we won 1-0 , it was amazing. McBride, Boca & Tim Howard we’re all on the pitch. Lovely day, down by the Thames.
Was that the game when Claus Jensen scored in the second half and was hit by a coin? I seem to recall Boca was immense in defence that day. And, man, I miss McBride!
Yep, that was it. I was down on the Hammersmith end, and Jenson was taking a corner on the other end, near the away fans, when he got hit. No one really knew what happen until after the match.
BTW, watch out for Chucktown FC in your Fantasy Football! Thanks for allowing me to play.
…and COYW!
I was in the Hammersmith End too that day. Small world, eh?
You’ll probably beat me in the old Fantasy Football. I’m usually rubbish at these things.
Really looking forward to the Pompey game now. COYW!
