According to the Times, who are usually on the money when it comes to transfer stories, Fulham are determined to fend off Arsenal’s interest in Brede Hangeland. It seems the only way Fulham’s resolve could be breached is if the Gunners were to offer an inflated fee for the centre back, which the Daily Mail suggests would be around £15m. I’d hate to describe it as a bargaining position – as I wouldn’t like Fulham to be inviting bids for our best players – but our hand should be strengthened by the fact that Hangeland still has two years to run on his current contract.
The Times also confirms our earlier story that we are inching closer towards bringing in a new striker. They report that we have agreed a fee of £2.5m with Almeria for Kalu Uche and that the Nigerian might not be the only forward joining the Whites in the transfer window.
