In the briefest of articles that has appeared on the Daily Mail website in the last 15 minutes or so, it is reported that Fulham have signed David Elm from Kalmar for £500,000. No word from the club yet.

This wouldn’t be particularly surprising – given the strong links to Elm in the Swedish press yesterday morning and confirmation from his club at lunchtime that he was flying to London for a medical. It remains to seen how much value there is in signing a striker who has hardly set the world alight in the Allsvenskan, but at that sort of price, he’s worth a punt – even if he never progresses beyond fourth choice up front and a potential replacement for Bobby Zamora.

The more eye-catching development is the purported revival of a move for Pawel Brozek, a deal that was long since thought to be dead. Wisla Krakow pulled the plug on Brozek’s proposed transfer to Fulham in July and it had been assumed that the striker was set to stay with the Polish club. I love how it is suggested that Fulham remain on his trail. What’s there to trail? A deal has to be done by close of business tonight so it’s time to show those cards.

Hold onto your hats. Transfer deadline day just might interesting.
