Today’s Daily Star links us with a £4m move for Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.
The former England under-21 international has struggled to play regular games in the Villa midfield of late and was even used as a makeshift full-back by Martin O’Neill last season. The former West Ham man would probably be keen to make a move to try and secure more first-team football and, although he would represent better value than another one of our transfer targets in Jonathan Greening at £4m, he would not be guaranteed a starting place in our engine room. In part, that’s a reflection on just how well Dickson Etuhu and Danny Murphy have gelled as a pair in central midfield.
The question remains whether Reo-Coker would be willing to move and then bide his time to wait for an opportunity to break into the Fulham first team.

I’d be very happy with both Chamakh and Reo-Coker. Think we need cover in central midfield who can step in straight away and Reo-Coker’s much more of a ball player than Dickson thus giving us a bit more with the ball. Chamakh’s a real talent, but I don’t think we’ll be getting him sadly.
