Vital Football seem to think that we want to sign Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Steve Phillips on loan.
This one doesn’t add up for me. Fulham have the highly capable Mark Schwarzer as their number one, with promising David Stockdale and the experienced Pascal Zuberbuhler in reserve. Can anyone shed any light on why we’d want to bring in an unproven loanee?
Zuberbuhler has let goals in every time he has been on and has not looked like a EPL keeper.
I think we have 2 key players. We would be in a bit of trouble if we lose either Schwarzer or Murphy.
Whilst there’s no doubt that Zuberbuhler has looked very shaky, I would hope that we could attract a better potential back-up keeper than the man from Bristol Rovers. We’ve already plucked Stockdale from the lower leagues and he might have vaulted over Zuber in pre-season. He didn’t concede a goal in his time on the field and was on the bench on Thursday.
