Dickson Etuhu says he isn’t worried by the influx of new midfielders at Craven Cottage.

Roy Hodgson has signed Bjorn Helge Riise, Damien Duff and Jonathan Greening to give him more midfield options during the new season but Etuhu says the new arrivals will make him strive to deliver even better performances on the field.

If the gaffer wants to bring players in that’s good for all of us. To get players in and fight for that shirt makes you a better player.

We can all wish we get a bigger, stronger squad, but we have to go out there and do our best.

Personally, it’s always good to have competition. You have to raise your game and show you deserve that shirt on a Saturday.

Etuhu’s attitude is certainly more positive than want-away defender Fredrik Stoor, who says his compatriot Rasmus Elm made the right decision in turning down Fulham and worries that Hodgson’s transfer policy will leave Riise out in the cold.

I met him (Elm) here, but I don’t know more than that.

He (Roy Hodgson) has bought three midfielders. He bought Bjorn Helge Riise some months ago and now two more midfielders, so things aren’t looking that good for Riise either.

He has brought in Jonathan Greening and Damien Duff, and they cost far more than Bjorn did. It is a little hard to know how to think all the time.
