Fulham have announced that Clint Dempsey has extended his contract at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2013.

The American international had been linked with a move away from Fulham after impressing for the USA in the Confederations Cup. Dempsey did look likely to leave at the start of last season, having lost his place in the team to Zoltan Gera, but forced his way back into the side and produced some of the most consistent performances of his Fulham career. He has now committed himself to Fulham for another four years.

The 26 year-old joined from the New England Revolution in January 2007 and has scored 14 goals in 81 league games for Fulham. Arguably his most important came early on in his Cottagers career as he bagged a crucial winner against Liverpool at the Cottage that secured Fulham’s Premier League survival.
