Fulham could be in with a chance of signing Nigerian forward Kalu Uche after Almeria admitted defeat in their attempts to persuade the player to stay in Spain.

Almeria have already turned down one bid of £2m from the Cottagers earlier this summer and had insisted that they would be talking to the player and his representatives to try and convince Uche to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the coming season.

But Uche has told the club that he doesn’t wish to sign another contract and Almeria will now seek to cash in on the Nigeria international rather than risk losing him on Bosman. It looks as though it could be a choice between the Premier League or the Middle East for Uche.
