Sunderland are still very much in the race to sign Reading’s Stephen Hunt.

The Daily Mail reckon that Steve Bruce will have to ward off the attentions of Fulham to secure the Irish international’s signature. Earlier reports had suggested that Fulham had the midfielder watched during the Republic of Ireland’s 1-1 draw in Bulgaria earlier this month.

Reading are reportedly holding out for a fee of around £5.5m for Hunt as they attempt to attract big money for one of their star players again after Kevin Doyle joined Wolves for a fee believed to be in excess of £6m.
