Promising young goalkeeper Jan Oblak has turned down the chance of joining Fulham after completing a trial with the club.

Oblak, just 16, had a successful summer trial at Fulham but has since returned to his parent club, Olimpija Ljubljana, for whom he won the man-of-the-match award when he made his long-awaited debut against Gorica at the weekend. Oblak has pledged his future to Olimpija, with whom he has just signed a new contract.

Olimpija’s sporting director, Simon Seslar, says Oblak has now committed his future to the club.

His only thoughts at this moment are with Olimpija. Yes, he went to London and spent some time with Fulham and they were very satisfied with him, but he wants to play for Olimpija for now.

He even signed a new contract with us – it is until 2011.
