News reaches us from the States that Brian McBride could be out of action for some time after undergoing shoulder surgery on Friday.

The veteran striker, who scored his sixth goal of the season as the Chicago Fire beat New England in the SuperLiga semi-final on Wednesday night, could be out for three to four months according to reports. Others suggest the injury lay-off could be as short as four weeks. The surgery, to repair a labral tear in McBride’s shoulder, is said to similar to having a knee scoped.
