Fulham target Jonathan Greening has stunned West Brom with a transfer request as he seeks to secure a move away from the Hawthorns.

The move comes barely a day after West Brom rejected a player-plus-cash offer for their captain from Fulham, calling it derisory. The Baggies had insisted that Greening wasn’t for sale and had offered him a new four-year deal, which he has rejected.

The departure of Greening, 30, would come as a major blow to Roberto Di Matteo’s plans to get Albion back to the top flight at the first attempt.
