Okay, it is Alan Nixon, who has a history of writing nonsense under his byline, but this would be a pretty shrewd move by Roy in my opinion.

Michael Turner had a fine first Premier League season and his assured performances at the heart of the Hull defence were one of the main reasons why the Tigers enjoyed such a dream start in the early months of the season. He’s tall, confident and a real threat in the air from set pieces, which would make him a really useful addition as our options at centre back (excluding Hangeland and Hughes) are a little thin.

You have to chuckle at Nixon’s disclosure that Hull were shocked at the size of our offer for Turner. If they were shocked, there must have been a few murmurs of disbelief at Motspur Park when permatan man said he wanted to pay £5m for Bobby Zamora. Tribal Football has these quotes from Brown on that transfer:

I spoke to Bobby and he was well received. I had a few hours with him and it was all positive. He’s gone back (to London) and he’s got a lot to think about. Hopefully, from our point of view it will be a good return.

Zamora has apparently been offered a three-year deal.
