Fulham are among a host of clubs interested in signing Manchester City striker Benjani.
The Whites will battle it out with the Zimbabwe striker’s former club Portsmouth and Stoke to secure his signature, according to reports. Benjani has been a disappointment since leaving Pompey for the City of Manchester Stadium and is almost certain to move on this summer with all the cash that’s splashing around the blue half of Manchester at the moment.
By the sounds of these quotes in the Sun, though, he would be happiest back at Fratton Park.
I have good memories of Portsmouth and have a special relationship with their supporters.Â
I left on a good note and would love to play for them again but, at the moment, I am contracted to City. I have a job to do here – until I am told anything else.Â
We’re also taking another look at Kagisho Dikgacoi. It was just reported that he’s flying to Australia this week for a trial.
I posted my thoughts on my blog, but briefly, since I follow Bafana Bafana a bit, I must say that I would be happy if he joined the club. He’s the type of guy who Roy could really mold into a pretty decent player I believe.
I dunno if I’d call Benjani a disappointment at ManCity. He played for two managers that kept changing things up. And he was injured most of the time under Sparky, who had about 30 strikers on the roster rotating in and out.
I’d love to see him at SW6. Paintsil could use a companion in the uber-positive department!
