Rennes could hijack Fulham’s reported attempts to sign Peter Odemwingie with the striker almost certain to leave Lokomotiv Moscow this summer.

The 28-year-old has spent the last two years in Russia after a big money move from Lille but he is said to be seeking a return to one of the major leagues in Europe.

The Cottagers have been linked with the striker in recent weeks but the player’s representatives are said to be unhappy with the Premier League club’s slow approach to negotiations, paving the way for Rennes to sneak in.

PSG have also been mooted as a possible destination but the Ligue 1 side have reportedly turned their attentions to Turkish frontman Mevlut Erding.

Odemwingie is said to favour a move to the Premier League as he believes the style of play would more suit his game.

“I am interested in going back to a big league if there is a good offer for me,” he said.
