This looks interesting.

At first glance, it seems like one of those ‘what have we got to lose transfers’? Fulham need a striker with experience of playing in Europe but probably don’t want to pay over the odds. Morientes has been there and done it in club football and would be available on a free transfer. The Indy is a little disparaging about his performances last season with Valencia, but a strike rate of 1 in 3 is not be sniffed at when you consider that he was in and out of the side.

In his previous spell in his English football, Morientes wasn’t particularly effective. But he wasn’t the focal point of the Liverpol attack, a role he’d be perfect for in this Fulham side. He’s very strong and good in the air while his career scoring record is very impressive.

Before anybody gets too excited, this is probably more media nonense. But it’s nice to dream, isn’t it?
