Thanks to the reader who emailed me to let me know that I’d missed the story linking Fulham with a move for Reading’s Kevin Doyle. I had dismissed it as paper talk, considering we’d been linked with the Irish striker a few times before and nothing had come of it.
But if this story in the Daily Star is anything to go by, that might have been a major misjudgement. They reckon that Fulham are planning to beat Wolves to Doyle’s signature and that Roy Hodgson is prepared to go as high as £6.5m to get his man. Interest in the Reading striker is high, though, as Bolton as thought to be preparing a bid of their own.
UPDATE: Today’s Times says we have already held talks with Kevin Doyle.
I’m quite excited by this. Was very impressed with Doyle, particularly during Reading’s first PL season. That might have something to do with him scoring against us but I reckon he’d be a great signing.
Agreed! he always looked like a real threat with his speed and chased lost causes. Could be a great signing
