Newcastle’s survival is now out of their hands and it looks like the Toon Army will have to pray that Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t take a reserve team to Hull on the final day of the season. There’s a mixture of anger, hurt and recognition that the game might be up on the Newcastle blogs.

A thoroughly dejected Ed Harrison says Newcastle let the fans down yesterday. A bit harsh, I thought, as they played pretty well but didn’t take their chances. He focuses on our poor away record, which is becoming a bit of a bugbear for me. Of course, he’s right that Fulham have only mustered three wins away from home but the points we’ve picked up on the road represent an excellent season on our travels, given how bad we’ve been away since we returned to the top flight.
