Oh dear. Doesn’t look like they liked Eddie Johnson too much at Cardiff.
For all his cult-status among supporters, American international Eddie Johnson was a total waste of time and money.
Hopelessly out of his depth, even at Championship level, one could readily see why Fulham were so keen to send him out on loan for the season.
The American’s two goals for City felt more like collectors items than genuine contributions to a Championship promotion campaign.
When Fulham signed Eddie, I was one of his biggest supporters. I felt at the time that he was just in a bit of a “funk” with the National Team and he would break out of it. That funk continues to this day.
Truth be told, he should go back to MLS and not worry about Europe or International Football. I was pretty pissed when Bob Bradley called him up for our last 2 qualifiers when Kenny Cooper would be a better choice. I still feel that way.
Eddie may get one last shot with the Nats this summer. Since we are playing in the Confederations Cup, Bradley will take his #1 choice squad there and his #2 choice squad will play in the Gold Cup, which begins just after the end of the Confederations Cup. Eddie may suit up for the Gold Cup.
Well, the Daily Mirror wrote otherwise in March. So who knows.

My knowledge of Eddie Johnson is obviously a lot more limited than both of yours.
I was excited when we signed him, but he hasn’t really done much to justify my excitement. I accept that it would take a new arrival some time to adjust to the pace, physicality and higher standard of football over here but he’s not really kicked on.
Regarding the Cardiff thing, the Bluebirds fans I’ve spoken to didn’t rate him particularly highly. They liked the fact that he tried but didn’t think he was very good. Which doesn’t sound too great.
