The Fulham captain triggered an automatic extension to his contract earlier in the year when he passed a set number of appearances. The clause entitled him to an extra year, but Murphy – one of the key figures in Roy Hodgson’s evolving side – wants to prove he is deserving of a two year deal.
The former Liverpool midfielder has said that he would be happy to finish his playing career at Craven Cottage.
