Curtis Main will remain at Darlington despite an impressive trial at Fulham.

The Premier League club were excited by Main’s performances during his short spell at Motspur Park, but Roy Hodgson has reportedly decided that the young striker would benefit more from first-team football than a big move to a top flight side at the moment.

Question marks remain over Darlington’s future with the club still mired in financial difficulties. It goes without saying, though, that if the Quakers survive through the summer, Main will play a lot more regularly than if he moved up the divisions in the close season.

Fulham must be confident that Main, 16, remains interested in a move to Craven Cottage as he is known to be interesting two other north east sides, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.
