Erik Nevland wants Fulham to finish a fabulous season on a high by recording their third straight win against Everton on Sunday and qualifying for the Europa League.
The Norwegian striker has certainly made the most of his chance in the first team after not starting a league game for Fulham until he lined up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this month. Nevland scored the equaliser in the derby to follow his winner against Stoke and set up Diomansy Kamara at Newcastle on Saturday.
‘I’ve had to be patient because Andy and Bobby have been playing well this season. For me it’s been a matter of being ready if they got injured or anything happened. I was ready when called upon and I think I’ve taken my chance well.
It’s been working quite well with Diomansy and we’ve both scored a few goals as well. He’s now scored our last three goals so he’s doing well and I’m enjoying it. The results have been good so we’re happy and it’s great to be out there playing. I’m really enjoying the end to the season.
Last year was a horrible last week of the season. It ended well though so let’s hope that’s the case this season as well. Obviously we’re a lot more relaxed this time around! The worst we can do is eighth so that’s already a brilliant season for Fulham. Whatever happens on Sunday we can look back on this season and be proud of what we’ve achieved. If you’d have said we’d finish seventh or eighth at the start of the season I would have thought that was being a bit optimistic.
Nobody is taking the FA Cup finalists lightly, though.
They’re one of the best teams in the league and it will be extremely tough but we’ve done very well at Craven Cottage this season so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t end the season on a high.
