I meant to put up a post about this earlier on today but time got the better of me then.
Clint Dempsey played for the United States last night as they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in their latest World Cup qualifier in Nashville. Dempsey was a little more involved than in Saturday’s come-from-behind draw with El Salvador but with the job done he didn’t complete the 90 minutes as he was replaced in the second half by Sacha Kljestan (and not Brian Ching as I said earlier – thanks to Jason in the comments for pointing out my mistake).
All the talk after the game will have been about the performance of striker Jozy Altidore, who scored all three goals for the States. The teenager still can’t get a game on loan at Spanish side Xerez and was not certain to start for the national team last night but turned in an impressive display.
The USA are back in action in June against Costa Rica and are currently at the top of table with seven points from three games.
Brian Ching started up front with Jozy Altidore, so he didn’t replace Clint. Sacha Kljestan replaced Dempsey.
My apologies Jason. It was late and I was struggling to stay awake whilst watching the game. Thought Sacha was a little lucky to get on considering how poor he was against El Salvador.
Agreed Dan. Sacha played pretty well versus Mexico but played one of the worst games in his career against El Salvador. I think Sacha lost his “power” when he cut his hair short.
I’m getting pumped for tomorrow. Maybe it’s “United hangover” going on, but I got our boys winning 1-0 tomorrow.

I think the positive thing to take from the international week for the US is that Bradley made some wholesale changes for T&T.
I’m not terribly confident about tomorrow afternoon I’m afraid. Liverpool will be really up for the game and we’ll have to be at our very best to get a result. There’s no reason why we can’t but of course it’s a big ask.
