Full back John Pantsil hopes Fulham’s strong league form can continue to the end of the season and secure a place in the revamped Europa League.

A 1-0 win over Stoke at Craven Cottage on Saturday, coupled with West Ham’s defeat by Chelsea and Tottenham’s disintegration at Old Trafford, took Fulham two points clear in seventh place. Manager Roy Hodgson isn’t getting too carried away but Pantsil, who has been outstanding since joining from West Ham in the summer, thinks Europe is a realistic aim.

We’re taking it one game at a time. We just want to continue what we’ve been doing. We only have a few games left and it’s very tight between ourselves, West Ham, Wigan, Tottenham and Manchester City and any one of these teams can reach Europe.

In taking each game as it comes, we can focus on making sure it is us that are taking the most points. I want to be in a better position than those teams at the end of the season, and I can see no reason why it can’t be Fulham in Europe next season.

The Whites face a few tough games in the run-in. They go to Chelsea next weekend and then host Aston Villa, before travelling to Newcastle and entertaining FA Cup finalists, Everton on the final day of the season.
