You’d be forgiven for thinking that the headline referred to Elliot Omozusi. But while Junior was hardly pulling up any trees in a loan spell with struggling Norwich, young Keanu Marsh Brown has enjoyed a good run in the reserve team. According to those who watch the young team sides and the reserves on a regular basis, Marsh Brown is progressing nicely and has the potential to be an even better player than Omozusi.
It was quite a coup when Fulham tempted Keanu away from Arsenal, where he started his career. Some Arsenal fans are very disappointed indeed. Marsh-Brown, who has also done well on the right side of midfield too, has beena regular in the England youth international squads and appears to have a very bright future ahead of him indeed. Here’s a story from last October where Keanu talks about his England experiences.
Recongition of Marsh Brown’s talent came when he was included in a list 20 promising English youngsters to cheer up Fabio Capello at the start of the season. If all goes well, there’s no reason why Keanu can’t realise his goal of becoming a regular in the Fulham first team.
UPDATE: Rich has kindly supplied this picture of Keanu in action against his old club.
I wonder if Junior might end up more successful at centre back. It’s difficult to tell at that level but I’ve seen him play there for the reserves and felt he acquitted himself well.
I don’t know Chopper. When I’ve seen him for the reserves he’s done well there – and it is his more natural position – but there’s a world of difference between a no pressure reserve game and the Premier League. I don’t mean to be unkind to the boy but he made two very costly mistakes in two games that I see him play (at Leicester in the FA Cup and diving in against Newcastle to concede a penalty in the last minute). I’d really love him to succeed but I fancy Chris Smalling is the better prospect.
