Matthew Etherington has quashed rumours of a summer move to Fulham by saying that he’s happy to stay at Stoke City.

Etherington, who only joined the Potters from West Ham in January, has been impressive as Stoke have moved well clear of the drop zone in their first season in the top flight. The Mirror had suggested that Roy Hodgson had made Etherington one of his top targets in the transfer window, suggesting that the left winger had failed to settle in the Potteries and was keen to return to London.

Etherington, however, emphatically denied those rumours today.

I haven’t a clue where all this has come from. It’s complete speculation.

A few people have mentioned it to me. Even my dad texted me this week to ask what it was all about. I can categorically say, hand on heart, that I have not heard anything about a move.

People make up these stories and I don’t know where they get it from. I am more than happy at Stoke and, hopefully, will be here for a long time. I have no intention of going anywhere, and that’s a fact.
