A few eyebrows were raised when it was reported that John Pantsil had told a Ghana football magazine that Roy Hodgson had given him £10,000 as a reward for keeping Cristiano Ronaldo quiet in our win over Manchester United the other month. I was sceptical about the story not least because the quotes published made it seem as though Pantsil was suggesting that he’d earned his money rather than that there was anything out of the ordinary.
Sarah Brookes issued a sternly worded denial to a Daily Mail follow-up story, which then suspiciously disappeared, before reappearing with a hasty rewrite. Then came Pantsil’s own rejection of the magazine’s article and now the magazine has retracted the story. I guess we won’t be deducted ten points now, then.
Great to see the club take instant and positive action over this. It makes me feel we really are being run in a professional manner. Good result all round.
Although I don’t know if Mo’s statements on Monday are “professional”, but sure are hilarious!, but it seems Fulham are always embroiled in this sort of things.
Remember when everyone thought Mo was going to sell in 06/07? And that statement on the Offal that was retracted around then?
As much as I appreciate what Al Fayed’s done for the club, I’ll never forget the way he planned to leave Craven Cottage and didn’t have the guts to tell the fans. If it wasn’t for a high profile campaign, we wouldn’t be home now. What makes it even worse is that all the key players remain in place.
