You can tell it’s approaching the end of the season because we are beginning to be linked with players and Roy’s every move is being tracked. The Fulham manager was in the stands for Sunday’s game between Lillestrøm and Rosenberg and that was the cue for the Norweigan media to begin the speculation about which players were on his ‘must see’ list. I’d probably become all too excited if we were actually to sign Per Ciljan Skjelbred. A talented midfielder, who has done really well to recover from a badly broken leg, he still has his best days ahead of him given that he’s only 21. He’s been on the radar of several of the bigger names in England but the prospect of improving under Hodgson – and teaming up with a couple of his compatriots – might make Fulham attractive.
The article also mentions Marek Sapara as a potential target. The Slovakian can play either in central midfield or on the right and has turned in strong performances both at club level, as Rosenberg won the Norweigan league three years ago, and on the international scene.
We certainly still need another defender – perhaps more than one – so perhaps Vadim Demidov or Håvard Nordtveit, Arsenal’s highly-rated youngster currently on loan at Lillestrøm could fit the bill.
