The Italian daily Corriere dello Sport reckons that Roy Hodgson is keen on bringing Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio to England at the end of the season.

It is well known that Hodgson is in the market for a strike partner for Andy Johnson, but Di Vaio seems a surprising target. Some sections of the Italian press have talked up his chances of an international recall at the age of 32 on the back of his fine form for Bologna.

The same paper believes that Hodgson would face a real battle with Gianfranco Zola for Di Vaio’s services and the Italian connection would lead you to believe that he would be more likely to end up at Upton Park.
