The tabloids have been linking us to Bristol City defender Bradley Orr this week.

Orr, predominantly a right-back, is a towering presence and is highly-rated as one of the best performers in the Championship. The Mirror believe that we’d have to pay City around or in excess of £1m for his services.

I have my doubts about this one, for obvious reasons, when it comes to right backs. For a start, Roy signed two right backs in the summer. One, John Pantsil, has made such an impression that he’ll likely remain the first choice right-back for a few seasons to come. The other, Fredrik Stoor, may well leave the club in the summer in an attempt to save his international career. It would be a shame to lose Stoor and, even if Moritz Volz moves on in the close season as seems likely, it might give Hodgson an opportunity to run the rule over Elliot Omozusi, who has yet to fulfil his potential in the first team.

Of course, my doubts might have something to do with the fact that Lawrie Sanchez’s masterplan of buying players who were very impressive in the Championship didn’t work out too well.
