Apparently Fulham’s scouts and coaches have been running the rule over young Belgian midfielder Mats Rits this week.

Rits has been in England recently with the Germinal Beerschot youth team and played in fixtures against Portsmouth, Charlton and the Whites. So, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out which clubs are interested in signing the youngster, who is expected to leave Germinal Beerschot at the end of the season.

You would hope that our formal relationship with the Belgian side – they operate as a feeder club for the Whites and take several Fulham players on loan until they receive Belgian citizenship and avoid the complicated work permit process – might give us a chance of signing Rits. But, with Real Madrid and Ajax also interested, our chances would probably be slim.

This report from last month suggests he’s heading to Holland.
